Herbalism uses plants to support wellness and healing.
An herbal consultation offers a deep exploration of the client’s whole health picture; including lifestyle, environmental stresses, & emotional wellness. The herbalist and the client then work together to make an achievable plan (which usually includes taking herbs) that support overall wellness, and/or addresses a particular issue.
Herbal medicine has evolved with human beings, and every culture across the globe uses plants as medicine in some capacity. Knowledge about plant medicine has been garnered with consistent observations by herbal practitioners for thousands of years. More recently, some of this knowledge has been verified by scientific research. Herbs have the unique ability to bring nourishment to individual organ systems in the body and to support our overall health. Unlike pharmaceuticals, herbs have the power to work gently and deeply and when used mindfully have very few side effects.
Herbs can be taken in many ways, including: as food, as tea, as an (alcohol-based) tincture, in vinegar-based medicines, in honey preparations, in powders, and topically. You and your herbalist will find the best preparation for you.
