Based on the ancient principle of like cures like, homeopathy uses potentized substances from the plant, animal, and mineral kingdoms to stimulate our vital force, and to restore the body, the mind and the spirit to a place of health.
A homeopathic remedy that is well-prescribed is one that is in resonance with the totality of our being, our emotions, our disposition, our aspirations, as well as our physical symptoms. A remedy touches our source, and in resonance, it brings insight. What has been suppressed, what has been hidden, what has been wounded can be resolved.
What can I expect?
Initial interviews typically take two hours in which a comprehensive holistic assessment is made including mental, emotional and physical aspects of the client. The goal is to gain a thorough and objective understanding of the client and what makes them a unique individual. When the correct remedy is selected and given to a client, the body’s own healing power is stimulated and the healing process benefits. Homeopathic remedies are gentle, subtle and powerful. They are non-addictive, they don’t interfere with prescription medications, and are not tested on animals. Typically, one dose of the suggested remedy is given and a follow up consultation is offered in 6-8 weeks.
Our Homeopathy Practitioner
Kathy Schermerhorn
Kathy has been an acupuncturist for over 20 years. She is a long-time practitioner of T’ai Chi and student of Classical Chinese Medicine. She is also trained as a Classical Homeopath. This is how Kathy describes acupuncture: “When the energetic rivers of our body flow freely, when the soil is rich and fertile and stable, when the cycles of rest and activity, the cycles of night and day are balanced, then we feel in tune, we are in health, we are nurtured in our lives. Acupuncture can help us guide us toward this state of well-being.” Here’s how Kathy describes homeopathy: “The path of Homeopathy is a process of unfolding that asks only a desire and a willingness to grow. It is not magical thinking, but a proven method of helping the body to heal itself, honoring our own inner wisdom and the innate capacity to heal ourselves.”
