Volunteers are the HEART of PMP!
There are so many ways to be involved with our health justice work. We have opportunities for folks who are looking to engage regularly and once in a while! We provide organizational support and guidance for all of our volunteers. We encourage volunteers of all different abilities and identities to join us. We require that volunteers bring an interest in health justice, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to engaging in personal anti-oppression work!
Volunteers are expected to attend an orientation session and volunteer community meetings. Volunteer perks include herbal medicines, access to all of our trainings, co-op working member hours, and participation in a community engaged in promoting healing and justice.

Spanish speaking practitioners are welcome!
Workshop Leaders– Interested folks who are knowledgeable about herbalism, cooking (food as medicine), or other alternative health concepts can volunteer to teach a workshop or workshop series at our host organization, the RECOVER Project, during clinic hours and with other community partners. We are available to work together to develop workshop topics and plans and PMP will provide guidelines and guidance around trauma-informed approaches and creating accessible spaces for people to learn.

Farmworker Healing Team
Clinic Practitioners: Trauma informed practitioners of multiple modalities including body work, acupuncture, energy healing, cranio-sacral therapy, herbalism, and nutrition are encouraged to apply. We seek practitioners who have special skills and training to support clients with chronic health challenges, pain, and trauma. Farm clinic practitioners should have a commitment to anti-oppression work and cross-cultural learning (including some basic Spanish!) and be able to adapt easily to a variety of working environments. All practitioners will receive training in PMP’s health justice approach, anti-oppression, and trauma informed practice. We need Spanish speaking practitioners to support our community of mostly Latinx farmworkers!
“Mini” Herbal Consults– Trained herbalists can sign up to provide drop-in mini herbal consults during herb distros in Turners Falls and Springfield. These mini-consultations are intended to address some of the most common complaints (sleep, digestion, nervous system support) and work with only common, safe, and nourishing herbs (think: nettles, chamomile, and lemon balm). More complicated and nuanced health conditions should be referred to our Greenfield Healing Clinic or On Farm clinics for full consultations. Drop-in Herbalists should have at least 2 years of herbal training and a firm commitment to anti-oppression work and health justice values. This person should be also be willing to “hang out” with folks in a community/ relationship-building kind of way for the designated time period, in the event that mini-consults aren’t being requested at herb distros.
Spanish Interpreters and Translators: PMP is always in need of Spanish language interpreters and translators to support Latinx clients at our clinics and herb distros (in Springfield and Turners Falls). We are also in need of folks that can help translate documents and marketing materials!
Clinic Fairies -are you passionate about curating healing spaces? Volunteer as a clinic fairy to help us prepare, clean, & beautify the space before each clinic. Maximum 3 hours/month commitment.

Apothecary Team
Herbalist Without Borders (HWB) Coordinator– PMP is a chapter of Herbalists Without Borders, an international organization that works to increase access to herbal knowledge and remedies through free clinics (like ours!), chapter meetings, medicine drives, etc. https://www.hwbglobal.org/about-hwb.html. The HWB Coordinator organizes regular chapter meetings, acts as a connection between PMP and HWB, and coordinates medicine drives. This is a great position for a social justice-minded community herbalist looking to use their skills to provide botanical support for their community, activists, and global disaster relief.
Apothecary Volunteers– Apothecary volunteers come to the PMP Homestead Apothecary once per week throughout the year to assist in a variety of weekly & seasonal tasks. Tasks include harvesting and processing herbs, blending teas, medicine making, compounding formulas, cleaning & organizing the apothecary, and more! Current apothecary hours are Thursdays from 12-2 pm but are subject to change depending on the season. Volunteers are able to learn about medicinal plants and running an apothecary while getting practical experience with medicine making. Volunteers are entited to a medicine exchange based on hours volunteered.
Tasks can be physically demanding, so please let us know if you have accessibility needs.
